Concept & Positioning

The project was conceived under the banner of “Redefining Time and Space,” centered on three architectural pillars:

• Inclusivity & Connection: Moving beyond the “couples-only” stereotype of the Maldives to create spaces where large groups and multi-generational families can gather.

• Adventure-Led Luxury: Positioning the resort as a global surf destination without compromising on 5-star hospitality standards.

• Organic Integration: A “Nature-First” approach where every structure is designed to sit lightly on the island’s topography.

Architectural & Interior Approach

The architectural vision was a collaboration between the Maldivian firm GX Associates (led by the acclaimed “Sappe”) and the Singapore-based URBNarc. Together, they created a “Modern Maldivian” aesthetic that feels timeless and globally inspired.

• Traditional Geometry: The architecture utilizes the Dhoni (traditional boat) silhouette and high-pitched thatched roofs, updated with sharp, minimalist lines.

• Sustainable Materiality: The interiors are a masterclass in eco-conscious luxury. Features include custom furniture made from sustainable timber and carpets manufactured from recycled plastic bottles.

• The “Water, Light, & Wind” Harmony: Every villa—whether beachside or overwater—features open-plan layouts with 180-degree views. The design utilizes oversized floor-to-ceiling glass and “see-through” walls to ensure that the Maldivian horizon is the primary decorative element.

• Tactile Interiors: The palette is earthy and serene, using custom stone baths, polished marble with dusty orange accents, and wave-patterned rugs that bring the texture of the reef indoors.

• The 150-Meter Pool: One of the longest freshwater pools in the Maldives, acting as the resort’s azure spine, lined with stylish sunken cabanas and overwater bridges.

• Private Spa Island: A dedicated island accessible via bridge, featuring eight self-contained oceanfront spa villas where treatments use organic VOYA plant-based products.

• Gourmet Village: A sophisticated culinary hub featuring 7 restaurants and 11 cuisines, including The Hawkers (upscale street food) and The Restaurant (Fire, Earth, and Ocean themes).

• The Surf Corner: Direct access to Chickens Break, one of the world’s most consistent left-hand barrels, featuring a dedicated surf bar (Raalhu Bar) for sunset viewing.

• Family Residences: Unique 2, 3, and 4-bedroom beach residences that function as private estates with their own expansive infinity pools and wine cellars.
